Participate in Friends Wilderness Center
Volunteer for one-time or ongoing activities
1. Work solo or alongside other volunteers to maintain our trails, put up markers, maintain the treehouse and yurt, clear fallen trees, and split firewood. Be a part of our trails crew.
2. Lead a hike on FWC trails or the adjoining Appalachian Trail, a great way to meet people, immerse yourself in beautiful scenery, work those muscles, and earn a free stay in Niles Cabin or for camping!
3. Tell community organizations or congregations about FWC and help us staff a table at fairs. Show our PowerPoint presentation at your local environmental or spiritual community to get people excited about FWC.
4. Participate in the "greening" of Niles Cabin. Help us upgrade the cabin to meet self-sufficiency standards. If you know anything about solar electricity or other green upgrades, we'd love to hear from you.
5. Help us stuff envelopes, or drop flyers off at events or community organizations, or help with a committee.
6. Lead a group event, a poetry gathering, a bird walk, a nature hike, a spiritual retreat, whatever fits in with the Center's mission to connect people with the spirit through nature.
By participating in some of the above, you could earn a complimentary overnight stay(s) and/or meals at Niles Cabin. Volunteers' out-of-pocket expenses to travel to Friends Wilderness are tax deductible.

Gift Certificates: We now offer them for daytime or overnight visits to Friends Wilderness Center. Good for events, camping, or Niles Cabin stays --- with meals! A great way to show your appreciation for a loved one, friends, colleagues, mentors, or teachers. Certificates can range from $10 (for an event) to any sum you name. Our popular "Two-for-Two" certificate ($120) allows two people to spend one night in Niles Cabin with two meals; or one person can stay any two nights with two meals each time. Our "One-for-One" offer is only $60. Or, you can design your own gift experience, and we'll quote you a price. Certificates can be mailed to buyers or users (with a card) and are good for one year from date of issue.
